2024 North Carolina State Chess Championship on National Chess Week

Open to all players residents of NC, University students or Military stationed in NC.
This is an OTB event.

Prize Fund: $8,000 b/120 paid full entries ($4,000 guaranteed!), extra entries increase prize fund
Entry Fees: Register by Sept. 1 pay $95, Register Sept. 2 - Sept 30 pay $105, In Oct. pay $115. Last minute to register - Saturday Oct. 12 at 5 PM

Reserve room by Oct 9 2024: Rate - $92 for standard double or King; $129 - King w/ pullout sofa.

Note: Up to 2 byes allowed for any round declared before round 3.
Re-entry $40 from Friday round to Saturday morning round 1, continue with best score.
Refund policy: Any withdrawal before the first round is paired (Friday Oct 11, 2024) will receive a full refund.
For playing up, the 100 point rule applies. Example: minimum rating to enter U2000 section is 1500 (1600-100)
All classes (except U900) are strict classes thus including only that 100 point range. Example: Class 2000s is for ratings 2000-2099.
Those playing up are eligible for the lowest class prize in the new section.

  2. Hardware:Bring your own regulation chess sets, regulation boards and regulation chess clocks.

Hotel Rules

  1. Check In: 3 PM; Check Out: Noon
  2. Free breakfast is for the guests of the hotel only. If you have any family or friends that want to eat at hotel that don't have rooms, the cost is $10 per person and can be paid at the front desk or hotel can add to your Master Bill.

    1. Duty to inform: Please notify the hotel if any member of your traveling party has evaluated positive for COVID-19.
